Ms. Santaella is originally from Minnesota and has enjoyed living in Wisconsin, Ohio, and Iowa before finally settling in Ely 6 years ago.  Ms. Santaella is in her second year of teaching at White Pine Middle School and is excited to be moving into science this year after teaching social studies her first year.  Ms. Santaella has a degree in Secondary Chemistry Education and is currently pursuing a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction. In addition to being passionate about inspiring students to become curious about science, Ms. Santaella loves to do anything that involves being outdoors.  She is an ardent enthusiast of trail running, mountain biking, hiking, and backpacking.  Ms. Santaella also enjoys yarn arts such as crocheting and knitting and tries to find time to practice singing and playing the piano.  She has a soft spot for animals, especially cats, and when not in school can usually be found engaging in one of her outdoor pursuits or spending time with her family.
